The Boston Celtics are just two wins away from winning a record 18th NBA championship.

Boston dominated the Golden State Warriors in Game 3 of the 2022 NBA Finals, winning 116-100 before a fired-up TD Garden crowd. With the win, the Celtics are now up 2-1 in the Best-of-7 2022 championship series with two more games to be played in Boston.

Tatum/Brown/Smart Combined for 77 Points in Game 2

Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Marcus Smart combined for 77 points in Game 3, the most by a Celtics trio since the 1987 NBA Finals. Tatum, Brown, and Smart also became the first trio to have at least 25+ points, 5+ rebounds, and 5+assists in an NBA championship game since 1984.

Brown and Smart went over their scoring prop bets of 23.5 and 13.5 points, respectively while Tatum’s 26 points were just 1.5 short of his betting total of 27.5 points. Despite that, Boston’s young superstar had another impressive all-around game with 26 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists, and one steal, with only one turnover.

Golden State also had a big game from the Splash Brothers who combined to score 56 points in Game 3 but the Warriors’ bench scored a total of 18 points with Game 2 star Jordan Poole only taking 8 shots with 10 points. Draymond Green has struggled so far and he’s scored only a total of 15 points scored in three championship games while already committing 15 fouls. He fouled out in Game 3.

Celtics are 7-0 SU and ATS Following a Loss in the Playoffs

Much has been said about Boston’s vulnerability when playing at the TD Garden in the current postseason. They lost twice at home to both the Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat and had a 2022 Playoffs home record of 4-4 SU. However, the Celtics were also 6-0 SU and ATS in games coming off a loss, regardless of where the game is played. That trend continued on Wednesday night and Boston is now 7-0 SU and ATS after a loss in the 2022 Playoffs.

Boston also entered Game 3 6-0 ATS while covering the betting spread by 14 points when coming off a loss. They closed at -3.5 points and covered by 12.5 points. They covered at a lower number than their six-game average entering Wednesday night but still, the Celtics covered the betting spread by double-digits. That’s impressive. Overall, the Celtics are 14-7 ATS in the 2022 Playoffs. Their 66.7% cover rate is the best among all teams that made the postseason. During that span, the Celtics have an average margin of victory of 5.7 points, the largest in this year’s playoff field.

The Celtics are now a sizable -220 betting favorite to win the 2022 NBA title with the Warriors now at their longest odds since the start of the series at +190 via the BetOnline App. Boston is a +200 to win the series in six games and a +300 to clinch the title in five games. Golden State’s shortest odds are at +300 to beat Boston in six games.
