Joh Rahm Favorite and Popular Bet at 2022 Memorial Tournament

PGA Tour The Memorial Tournament Betting Odds

  • Jon Rahm is both the odds on favorite and most popular bet to win the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village.
  • Rahm has 6% of the betting slips and 17% of the handle at +1000.
  • Xander Schauffele is the second most popular bet with the most betting tickets and 11% of the money.

Nine out of the 12 Top-ranked golfers in the Official World Golf Rankings will be at Muirfield Village this week for the Memorial Tournament.

With world no. 1 Scottie Scheffler not in the field, it’s no surprise that the player ranked next to him the OWGR – Jon Rahm is the +1000 odds on favorite to win the tournament. But not only is Rahm the betting favorite this weekend, but the Spaniard is also the most popular bet to win the tournament at the best golf betting sites.

According to BetMGM, Rahm has 8% of the total betting tickets and 14% of the total betting handle to win the tournament, both the most by any golfer in the field. Rahm is also tied with Will Zalatoris with the most betting slips at Caesars Sportsbook with 6% while he also has the highest betting handle at the said sportsbook at 17%.

Rahm Withdraws After Positive COVID-19 Test

Rahm carried a six-shot lead after three rounds last year when he was forced to withdraw from this event after testing positive for COVID-19. Not only did Rahm miss out on a hefty $1.7 million payday, but he also missed out on the chance to win the event in back-to-back years, having won the Memorial in 2020.

The world’s no. 2 ranked golfer in the OWGR has five Top 10 finishes in 11 events entered this year, including a win at The Mexico Open last month. The win was Rahm’s first since capturing the U.S. Open last summer and his 7th overall win in the PGA Tour. He arrived at Vidanta Vallarta as the +500 betting favorite to win the tournament and he played true to the oddsmakers’ predictions by capturing the crown.

One Arizona bettor at Caesars Sportsbook placed a $3,000 bet on Rahm at 10/1 odds. The bet, which is currently the largest single bet for the 2022 Memorial Tournament taken at the sportsbook, has a potential winning of $30,000.

Memorial Tournament is Loaded

In the loaded Memorial Tournament field, Rory McIlroy has the second shortest odds at +1100 but he only has 4% of the bets and 4% of the money at Caesars Sportsbook. McIlroy has finished in the Top 10 in his last three events including a T2 at Augusta and T8 at The PGA Championship. Patrick Cantlay who won this tournament in 2019 and last year has the third-best odds to win at +1400. He is followed by Jordan Spieth who is listed at +1800 odds. Xander Schauffele, Cameron Smith, and Collin Morikawa are next at +2000. Matthew Fitzpatrick and Hideki Matsuyama are both listed at +2500 while Will Zalatoris at +2800 is the only other golfer with odds below +3000.

Zalatoris leads all golfers with the most number of betting tickets although Caesars says he is just 17 betting slips better than Rahm and Schauffele. Zalatoris also ranks 5th in betting handle with 5%. Schauffele is the second-most popular bet with 6% of the tickets and 11% of the handle. Caesars has taken a $2,500 bet on Schauffele at 25/1 odds for potential winnings of $50,000 and has also received a bet of $2,667 at 14/1 odds which would cash $37,338 if Schauffele wins this weekend.

Despite two memorial wins, Cantlay is just 8th in tickets with 4% and 6th in dollars at 5%. Meanwhile, Smith has 5% of the tickets and 6% of the money which are 5th and 4th best in the field. Jordan Spieth also has 5% of the total betting slips while Morikawa has the third-most betting handle with 7%
