Silly season, or the transfer window as most people know it, is often, er, very SILLY as it is. But for Chelsea right now, it’s become even sillier, and the transfer window hasn’t even opened yet, nor do we even have only just had official new owners in the door!
The takeover was finally officially confirmed today on the Chelsea website, and the sanctions as of today, have now been lifted on our club, meaning we can go into the transfer market this summer, and we can start negotiating to sign players officially.
If you wrote a list of the alleged transfer targets or players linked with Chelsea over the last few weeks, it would be nothing short of an essay. And whilst I am sure that media outlets ARE starting to get word of one or two players that Thomas Tuchel would like to add to his squad this summer, there is no way that anybody knows or can predict what will happen at the club this summer.
Let’s allow the new owners to get their feet under the table, and at the very least hold a meeting or two with Thomas Tuchel and the rest of the current Chelsea board. Then I think we will start to hear genuine reports of the direction we will be heading and the kind of players we will be signing this summer.
It’s all been a lot of speculation until now, in my opinion. A lot of hysteria. But that is the nature of the beast and I do believe that some of the speculation at least, such as Jules Kounde joining the club, will come true. I think the next week or so things will start to become clearer.
