Chelsea should look at Boubacar Kamara this summer – Talk Chelsea

Chelsea are in an ownership takeover meaning everything will be uncertain and rather cautious for a while. Add that to the fact we are about to lose three of our main senior defenders and really need a true ‘destroyer’ defensive midfielder, then look no further than Boubacar Kamara of Marseille as the remedy.

I think you’d be pretty daft to believe that the new owners will come in this summer and spend millions upon millions on the squad. Of course, you’d expect them to come in and back Thomas Tuchel with a statement signing or two for sure, but as well as that, we will need some wise recruitment as well and that is where Kamara comes in.

He becomes a free agent this summer, and he can also play as a defensive midfielder OR as a centre back, meaning we can cover two positions in one adding a top-quality player to the ranks without spending a penny on his fee. He would improve this squad I have no doubts about it.

A host of clubs have been linked with recent interest in him, and this summer, he becomes a free agent.

Kamara for those of you who may not know, is a 22-year-old French U21 international (recently it sounds like he is going to declare for Senegal at senior level) who plays for Marseille. He’s played well over 100 times now for Marseille at senior level, and he is more than ready to make his move to a big club, and there are plenty of big clubs lining up.

Chelsea will need quality cover and squad depth in a number of positions this summer, this season proved we lack quality in depth. Kamara though for me, wouldn’t just be ‘depth’, he would easily become a regular for us and whether that be in midfield or at the back would depend on circumstances and who else we manage to sign and sell.

There aren’t too many midfielders around that have Kamara’s unique attributes and are classed as true defensive midfielders, and I genuinely believe he would add quality to our squad and give us a dynamic of player that we really miss.
